Sample It Saturday – Giant Eagle Brick Oven Style Pizza

Welcome to Sample it Saturday! Each Saturday there will be a review of a Giant Eagle brand product. Giant Eagle has a “Brand Quality Guarantee” which simply states:

As with any purchase from the family of Giant Eagle® brands, if you aren’t 100% satisfied with your purchase, we’ll give you double your money back.” (link)

*I was in no way compensated to do these reviews, and I purchased the product on my own dime. I promise to always provide honest feedback on every product.

This week we are trying Giant Eagle Brick Oven Style Pizza. I bought Pepperoni, there was also 4 Cheese and Supreme. Giant Eagle also has a Ultimate Rise kind, with Vegetable, 4 Cheese, 3 Meat and Pepperoni toppings. They are $5.99 ($5 sale). DiGiorno Pizzas are $7.49, Newman’s Own are $7.89 and California Kitchen $7.69.

I am totally impressed by this pizza! It was really good, we over-cooked the crust a bit, but that was my fault for not watching close enough! My kids ate it, my husband doctored up a corner for himself (he likes a lot more toppings than the rest of us) and he liked it as well.  We have a Little Cesears nearby, and they have a $5 pizza, this pizza was SO much better than that one, and it is the same price! We had a DiGiorno Dipping Strips Pizza a few weeks ago, and  though these are different styles of pizza, I don’t think I would have been able to tell which was name brand and which was generic. I was going to take a picture of the cooked pizza, but it was gobbled up so fast!

Wisk – $.74 or $1.74 Each wyb 4!!

Go. NOW. And load this Saving Star offer before its GONE! Giant Eagle has Wisk on sale for $3.99. Use the $1/1 from 6/10 RP and here is how it breaks down:

4 bottles x $3.99 each = $15.96
Use four $1/1 coupons and pay = $11.96
Then receive $5 back in your Saving Star account = $6.96 for four bottles or $1.74 each

On HCW some people got  $2/1 coupon! Then the deal would work like this:
4 bottles x $3.99 each = $15.96
Use four $2/1 coupons and pay = $7.96
Then receive $5 back in your Saving Star account = $2.96 for four bottles or $.74 each
WOW!!!

If your GE is out of Wisk, you can get a raincheck, just be sure to redeem it by July 22 when the manufacturers coupon expires. I MIGHT hold out for a better manufacturer coupon (maybe my area will get a $2 next?), since the Saving Star offer does not expire until August 8th. Either way, Happy Shopping!

Hamburger Helper Update

Dude! Where can I get that hat! Ok, so on to business…

Well, we are going to skip the “Thursday Update” and just do a Hamburger Helper update! I bought six, and used two $.75/3 coupons, paid, $3 and got one $2 Catalina back. The Catalina also specifies to be used “On Your Next Hamburger, Chicken or Tuna Purchase.” This extra specification was NOT in the ad, and I don’t like surprises like this. Before, this detail has been included in the ad.

Also, the “Monthly Rewards” page needs a bit of editing, in my opinion. I had a lovely conversation with a fellow shopper about whether or not Hamburger Helper is a “Skillet Helper,” since that is what it says in the monthly page. There was no box marked “Skillet Helper” and the picture for the monthly pages has a picture of the Classic Cheddar Macaroni flavor, which also does not say “Skillet” on the front of the box.

I was hoping to get two $2 Catalinas back, one for the weekly deal, and one for the monthly. Alas, it seems like they are one deal, just advertised in two different places. I called customer service to see what they had to say, and the lady said it was probably the same deal, just advertised in two places. And she took my info and she will forward it to Catalina, and they will probably be giving me a call. If I was supposed to get two, they will mail me one to make up for the one I didn’t get.

Not as good as it could have been, but 6 boxes for $1, I can live with! Happy shopping everyone!

Giant Eagle Matchups – 6/28/12 – 7/4/12

Couponing In BirdlandFollowing is a list of the coupon match ups for the week of 6/28 – 7/4. Learn about shopping at Giant Eagle here and learn about general couponing here. If a coupon is labeled “big paper” it is a coupon that was only in big city newspapers (like the Cleveland Plain Dealer).

Match ups are ordered by department of the store, and within each department items are listed alphabetically. Offers that include multiple items with a promotion (bonus Fuel Perks or Catalina offer) will be at the bottom of each section. Departments are: Produce, Bakery, Deli/Meat/Seafood, Dairy, Dry Goods, Household, Pet Supplies, Baby, Health & Beauty and Frozen. Most ad items will be included in each match-up (unless there is no coupon for the item).

If there is more than one coupon, the “Final” prices will be listed in the same order the coupons are listed.

All coupons from www.coupons.com can be printed through Swagbucks (but not both) to earn 10 virtual bucks per redeemed coupon. Start earning NOW (note, that is my affiliate link).

Sunday Update – 6/24/12

Time for a Sunday update! This is where I take all the new coupons from Sunday’s paper and figure them into the sale for the week. I will also go back and include the new coupons in the weekly match-up. ALL coupons on this post are from the 6/24 newspaper.

PLEASE NOTE: Coupons will vary by newspaper and region. For my local papers, we have two smaller (Akron Beacon and Canton Repository) and one big paper. The “Big Paper” or Cleveland Plain Dealer has the same as the small plus many more coupons in it. If you see a coupon labeled “big paper” know that it was not in our smaller paper. Also, in NE Ohio, those in the Cleveland area get a Red Plum home mailer, and those coupons will also be labeled “big paper” because they are the ones that would be in the Plain Dealer if they were in the paper. I hope that is not to confusing! And if you have time, you can always buy coupons from a clipping service or eBay.

We are getting one Smart Source and one Red Plum this week.

My predictions are in italics. This is just to give you an idea of how the coupons might work at GE over the next few weeks. Please remember, they are just my educated guesses!

They will be again ordered by departments, which are: Produce, Bakery, Deli/Meat/Seafood, Dairy, Dry Goods, Household, Pet Supplies, Baby, Health & Beauty and Frozen.

Sample It Saturday – Giant Eagle Sour Cream

Welcome to Sample it Saturday! Each Saturday there will be a review of a Giant Eagle brand product. Giant Eagle has a “Brand Quality Guarantee” which simply states:

As with any purchase from the family of Giant Eagle® brands, if you aren’t 100% satisfied with your purchase, we’ll give you double your money back.” (link)

*I was in no way compensated to do these reviews, and I purchased the product on my own dime. I promise to always provide honest feedback on every product.

This week we will be trying Giant Eagle Sour Cream. An 8 oz tub costs $1. An 8 oz tub of Daisy Sour Cream is $1.49 and Superior Sour Cream is $2.19.

I am kicking myself for forgetting to give it a taste, but I used it all in this recipe, and it was fabulous! As a general note, if you are watching your sugar intake at all, this is not the recipe for you! My suggestion: take it to a big gathering so you don’t eat it all yourself! Its that good!
